Rhys joined BGF as a 24-year-old and has spent over a decade originating and delivering more than 20 regional deals, including exits of St Pierre Group, Miss Group and Panthera. Recent investments include Besseges, where he sits as NXD, and a >£10m healthcare deal. He also mentors students on BGF's graduate and internship programmes.

Tom Dutton, Westbridge

Tom led the £336m exit of APEM at 11.5x, the subsequent £160m Ares refinancing and a c.£15m overseas acquisition for the group. He also drove Alpine Fire's EBITDA from £5m to £15m, and helped Acuity grow EBITDA by 107% through a management change initiative. Tom leads on WestBridge's Northern origination and contributed significantly as the firm achieved a £225m fund close.

Chloe Fletcher, Alvarez & Marsal

Chloe leads A&M's Northern consumer M&A practice. She originated the Besseges/BGF deal through existing relationships and secured a £1m+ beauty business exit mandate without a competitive pitch. She also initiated the UK's first Consumer & Retail M&A dinner in Manchester and has built a team with over 40% female representation.

Amy Huddleston, Grant Thornton

Amy worked on eight transactions in the past year, including deals for CLP and Liberty Group. During locked-box negotiations on one deal she identified issues others missed and secured over £3m of additional value for the client. She was also hand-picked to support Grant Thornton's own £1bn+ sale process.

Alex Kirkby, LDC

Alex sits on the boards of four North West portfolio businesses and led two new investments in the past year — Panthera and myHappymind — both closed within three-week exclusivity periods in competitive processes. His background spans M&A tax and corporate finance, giving him a full view of the deal lifecycle from both advisory and investor perspectives.

Matt Klemperer, Lloyds Banking Group

Matt completed 10 transactions in the past 12 months totalling c.£225m of facilities. A standout win in early 2026 saw him originate and execute c.£45m of financing for a pan-European sponsor's logistics platform investment — new-to-bank for Lloyds. Other notable deals include Biocomposites (TA Associates/Novo Holdings), Ipsum (IK Partners) and Rosemont Pharmaceuticals.

Patrick Molyneux, KPMG

Patrick leads KPMG's Acceleris team of seven from Manchester, completing over 10 VC deals in the past year including a £15m Series B for Project Gift — against an initial ask of £5m — and growth rounds for Private White VC, Origin Coffee and Perlego. His accelerator programme has raised over £30m for members, and his 'Founded by Her' initiative has supported more than 40 female founders.

Amy Murphy, FRP

Amy completed two complex carve-out transactions in the period — the sale of Ascot Doors (Service) from Breal Group to andwis, and the MBO of Unified Post UK from its Belgian parent Banqup Group. She has three further North West deals pending completion. She also leads FRP Manchester's CSR programme, including fundraising for Manchester Mind and running access-to-finance apprenticeship schemes.

Robbie Taberner, MHA

Robbie has been with MHA for a decade and has been the North West team's highest biller for two consecutive years. He led the TNP deal, and specialises in complex, higher-value transactions. As deputy people lead, he also runs recruitment, onboarding and mentoring across the team.#

Mandy Allen, Clearwater

Mandy leads Clearwater's ESG strategy, building partnerships with charities, schools and social enterprises that have generated over 400 volunteering hours across the team. She is a certified SROI practitioner and has used that expertise to develop a new client-facing ESG service — quantifying social value for bids and tenders — adding a revenue-generating strand to Clearwater's proposition.

Jenny Kirkham, Cortus Advisory

Jenny Kirkham is Partner and Head of ESG and Responsible Business at Cortus Advisory Group. She led the firm’s journey to B Corp certification and drives environmental strategy across six UK offices. Known for her inclusive leadership, Jenny embeds sustainability into every aspect of culture, client work, and decision-making.

Helen Spence, EY

Helen has dedicated significant time to championing disadvantaged young people and underprivileged groups in her long career at EY. She has hosted young people for work shadowing in EY's Manchester CF team, raised over £11,000 through international treks for the EY Foundation, and last year became a Trustee of SmartWorks Greater Manchester, supporting unemployed women back into work.

Lizzy Tindall, Eversheds

Lizzy co-leads the Eversheds Sutherland national associate stream across all UK offices and mentors female associates through promotion rounds to partner level. She has delivered resilience and imposter syndrome training, presented to over 250 people at the MACHO event, and led an initiative with KKR and Bridgepoint to develop diversity programmes — alongside her own highly regarded private equity practice.

Steph Wall, Palatine

Steph led Palatine's B Corp recertification to a score of 119.7 — among the highest for any European PE firm — and secured SBTi validation for the firm's emissions targets, committing to a 42% reduction by 2030. She delivered carbon literacy training to 319 people across Palatine, its portfolio and investors, making Palatine the first PE firm to achieve Silver Carbon Literate Organisation status.

Pauline Wild, Forbes

Pauline has led Forbes Solicitors as Managing Partner since 2022, growing turnover by 12.5% while launching a firm-wide EDIB strategy that has raised minority ethnic representation from 12% to 17% and pushed the employee Net Promoter Score from 30 to 57. As a trustee of the Forbes Foundation, she also drives charitable giving and personally volunteers alongside colleagues at local youth and community programmes.

Jonathan Boyers, Alvarez & Marsal

Jonathan was lead advisor to Jacobson Group on its sale to Marubeni Consumer Platform US, lead advisor to LDC on its acquisition of myHappymind, to Palatine on their majority acquisition of fulfilmentcrowd and to William Hare Group on its sale to Orange UK Holdings. He has led the growth of the EMEA Corporate Finance team to 160 professionals across 8 countries building a pipeline of over 100 live deals.

Ed Gale, Clearwater

As a partner, Tech M&A Ed worked on the sale of Interact to Castik Capital; the sale of BGF backed fulfilmentcrowd to Palatine, the sale of IMT Matcher to US buyer Reprotech and Palatine’s investment into Atombit.

Roger Hart, Addleshaw Goddard

As well as serving as head of the Manchester office, Roger’s notable deals this year were the £300m Main Market IPO of The Beauty Tech Group; the £225m sale by IMI PLC of Truflo Marine; £82m takeover of Science in Sport PLC by b-d Capital Partners; Speedy Hire PLC's acquisition of HSS Hire PLC; and Swissport's acquisition of ASC.

Beth Houghton, Palatine

Beth sits on 5 portfolio company boards for Palatine and looks after fundraising activity for the Impact Fund. An advocate for sustainability in private equity, she recently joined the Council of UK Private Capital to be the voice of impact and regional investing in the industry.

James Kennedy, Cowgills

James originated and executed the cross-border sale of Versori to Avalara Inc., as well as supporting long-standing client Scorpion Automotive on its strategic acquisition of Trackershop, with a further deal imminent, bringing the total to three acquisitions in just fifteen months.

Chris Stott, KPMG

Chris leads KPMG's Food and Drink team in the UK as well as leading the Northern Transaction Services team. He worked on the corporate consolidations including Norcros PLC's acquisition of Fibo; PAM Healthcare's sale to Optima Health PLC, RSK's acquisition of Octavius Infrastructure; and the Kitwave group plc take private backed by One Equity Partners.

Peter Terry, Grant Thornton

Peter runs the Corporate Finance Team across the North and is Practice Leader of the North West offices, he also leads on Private Equity nationally. He advised on: the sale of Runcorn based energy and compliance business CLP Group FS to Sureserve; the sale of H Mear (Furnishers) Limited to a Newco backed by All Interest Aligned and the sale of HB Accident repair to Sun Capital.

Tom Wildig, Palatine

The main deals for Tom in the year were the exit of Suntera to Valeas, and the investment into Fulfilmentcrowd. There were other bolt on acquisitions in the portfolio but these were the main platform deals.

Ed Crocker - KPMG

Ed heads KPMG's Financial Services M&A focus in the North from the Leeds office, with 18 completed transactions to his name. Recent deals include the BGF investment in The Bridge Community Care and the sale of CPN to 7iM Group in March 2026. He also heads up origination and business development for the Leeds M&A team.

Brooke Fenton - Sentio Partners

Brooke has built six years of strong deal experience and this year's highlights include the £200m+ sale of Symphony Group to W&R Barnett, a cross-border sale of Ethoss Regeneration to Sweden-based Lifco, and the sales Dene Healthcare and Little Green Rascals Organic Day Nurseries. She sits on the Leeds P100 committee and mentors junior colleagues coming through the firm.

Rachel Holloway - Endless

Rachel joined Endless in 2024 and has supported two exits t, alongside a central role in the GEO Specialty Chemicals acquisition. She contributed to a record year for the Enact Fund in both returns and capital deployment, and Rachel and her team won the TMA Turnaround Competition in New Orleans against 14 international teams.

Abigail McGarry - Weightmans

Two years PQE, Abigail led a £4m share sale in December 2025, managing lawyers more senior than herself throughout. She has built her own client following — one major OMB client now instructs her directly, with four ongoing matters and more in the pipeline. Advisers describe her as technically excellent and unusually calm under pressure.

Dan O'Connell - Gallagher

Dan spent a decade in Yorkshire dealmaking — first as an M&A lawyer, now running Gallagher's W&I offering in the North. His team has worked on major deals including Endless/Eco-Bat, Enact/Geo Speciality Chemicals, and Omnia Projects/Egis. He has built a consistent regional service that investors, lawyers and CF advisers use rather than defaulting to London.

Richard Ralph - Foresight

Richard serves as NED at Eden Mobility, where he helped drive 40% revenue growth and led the firm's first bolt-on acquisition. At Central Power Services he led a £1.75m follow-on investment and restructured the leadership team. He was central to establishing Foresight's Leeds and Sheffield offices and sourced nearly 50 investment opportunities in the past year.

Declan Savage - Translink CF

Declan led three high-profile transactions — the secondary buyout of Darts Corner to Ethos Partners, the sale of WDS Components to Diploma plc (seven offers from three countries), and the cross-border acquisition of Safeweb by Swedish-listed Safestate. Clients and co-advisers highlight his process management, transparent communication and ability to deliver under pressure.

Olivia Wakefield - BDO

Olivia leads BDO Leeds's social mobility and CSR programme alongside her transaction services role, working with Enactus, the Social Mobility Foundation and ICAEW RISE. Her Culture Club was named BDO's Group of the Year nationally. She organises Dragons' Den workshops, mock interviews and mentoring schemes, and runs cultural events including a Ramadan and Iftar gathering with BDO's Muslim Network.

Bridie Clews - EY

Bridie founded and chairs a social value network at EY, facilitating work placements for around 150 students from underprivileged backgrounds across five offices. She co-led a resourcing reform that tackled unconscious bias across her service line, and shares her experience of ADHD across EY's Neurodiversity network. She led EY's involvement in Leeds Pride and co-led the Million Makers campaign.

Ben Coggin - BDO

Ben is a financial due diligence partner at BDO and the Leeds People Partner. A trusted advocate for inclusion and belonging, Ben supports BDO's LGBT+ PRIDE network and leads elements of the Transaction Services inclusion agenda, helping to remove barriers, strengthen representation and enable people across the firm to thrive.

Hannah Crosland - Squire Patton Boggs

Hannah leads Squire Patton Boggs's Social Mobility Business Resource Group, covering around 190 employees and partners. She previously developed the 'You Belong in Law' programme with the University of Law in Leeds — targeting students from low-income households, refugees and carers — which has since expanded to Manchester and Birmingham, with alumni going on to work experience placements at the firm.

Jayne Dunford - LDC

Jayne joined LDC in 2000 and has over 25 years’ experience in the private equity industry. She supports John Garner, Managing Partner and Head of New Business along with Dan Smith, Partner and Head of Yorkshire as well as supporting the wider Leeds team with their new business, portfolio and marketing activities. Jayne plays a key role in the charitable works within the Leeds team and supports the wider LDC PA network, promoting balance and best practice across the team.

Cordelia Stephens - Gateley

Cordelia is an associate in the corporate team, based in our Leeds office, advising on a broad range of corporate matters including acquisition and disposals, management buy-outs, investments, shareholders’ agreements, reorganisations and general corporate governance matters. Cordelia acts for a wide variety of clients including individuals, start-ups, owner-managed businesses and investors across a number of sectors.

Jeremy Thomas - Clearwater

Jeremy has made a transformative contribution to improving opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled young people across Yorkshire through his leadership as Chair of the region's Lord's Taverners committee, raising over £150,000 during his tenure. He has built a network of senior business leaders as active ambassadors for the charity. Funds support eight Super 1s disability cricket hubs, 11 Wicketz hubs in underserved communities, and 57 SEND settings reaching nearly 1,700 young people.

Clare is a corporate restructuring and turnaround expert and she leads the Yorkshire and North East restructuring team of Teneo Financial Advisory Ltd. Clare has over twenty five years’ experience (with Deloitte until May 2021- as a Partner for 9 years). Clare has also been an Institute For Turnaround (“IFT”) Board member since 2020.

Chris Cormack - Endless

Chris has led the Enact team since joining Endless in 2013, delivering market leading returns across Fund I, Fund II and now investing from Enact’s £100m Fund III. He began his career with Ernst & Young in 1993 and has since worked across industry, banking and corporate finance, developing extensive experience in the UK SME market. As Managing Partner, Chris is responsible for deal origination, portfolio oversight, fund raising and is a member of the Enact Investment Committee.

Paul Denvers - Endless

Paul joined Endless in November 2014 and is a Partner in the Enact Investment Team, having previously held roles at Deloitte and Grant Thornton. Since Paul joined in 2014, he has been involved identifying and executing many of the investments made by Enact. He is also involved in the active management and supervision of invested businesses. Paul led the investment and the exit of Realise Training Group following a period of sustained success and growth and is on the board of our new investments in Geo Speciality Chemicals and HSS.

Oliver Hoffman - Forvis Mazars

A partner at Forvis Mazars for over 20 years, he specialises in sell-side M&A for entrepreneurs and family businesses while leading the firm’s own transactions. He has advised on multiple deals, including Helander Precision Engineering, Leeds Bronze Engineering, and Datalase, and led the landmark sale of Owen Mumford to Embecta in a nine-figure transaction.

Paul Mann - Squire Patton Boggs

Paul Mann is a partner in the Corporate team and heads the Private Equity team in the UK and Europe. Paul’s expertise covers all types of corporate work, in particular private equity and mainstream mergers and acquisitions (both locally and internationally). On the corporate side, Paul’s clients range from owner-managers to PLCs, and, on the private equity side, Paul covers all aspects of such transactions, ranging from advising management teams and/or the shareholders to advising the private equity house and/or the company.

Duncan Morpeth - Alvarez & Marsal

Georgie Arthur - Evolve Corporate Finance

Georgie is an outstanding emerging talent within the West Midlands corporate finance community, demonstrating significant impact, strong commercial acumen, and leadership well beyond her years. Since joining Evolve in April 2024, she has rapidly progressed, earning promotion to Manager while building an extensive network across the regional deals market and contributing to a positive, high-performing team culture.

Karen Mann - LDC

Karen played a key role in several of LDC’s landmark West Midlands transactions and portfolio growth initiatives during the period. She was instrumental in securing LDC’s investment into Birmingham-based law firm Harper James through a competitive process, building a strong relationship with Toby Harper and his team. Karen delivered this whilst balancing the demands of dealmaking alongside welcoming her second child and supporting LDC’s charitable partnership with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Will Mason - Debretts

Will Mason is quickly establishing himself as one of the most capable young advisers in the West Midlands. At just 30, he is already a Director at Debrett’s and a key member of the Industrials team, with a growing track record across mid-market transactions.

Christie Nelson - Freeths

In under 12 months at Freeths, Christie has delivered a level of business development impact and market visibility that exceeds expectations for her PQE. Jordan Phillips - Provantage

Callum Shields - KPMG

Callum has been an integral part of the KPMG Corporate Finance team in the Midlands for the last 9 years, consistently advising on transactions in the region over that time, many of which have been to local PE. Some notable deals include the sale of CHS Healthcare (Sutton Coldfield) to BGF, the sale of Mainstay (Worcester) to First Port (backed by Equistone) and the carve out of Correla from Xoserve (Solihull) and its sale to Northedge Capital.

Tom Wisniewski - Hill Dickinson

Rick Smyth - Wilkes

Over 25 years, Rick Smyth has helped raise millions for vulnerable children and charitable causes, transforming lives through sustained commitment and care for those who need it most. Since 2012, Rick has been instrumental in the KidsOut Midlands Committee's success, bringing hope and support to underprivileged and refuge children. He served as Regional Chair for five years until 2021, providing passionate leadership during significant growth, and remains an active committee member today.

Sophie Wardell - Higgs

Sophie is instrumental in creating inclusive environments where people can reach their full potential. Lee Clifford - Freeths

Heads up one of the Midlands’ most active dealmaking teams - back -to-back winners of the Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the Rainmaker Awards in 2024 & 2025. He drives PE growth strategy in the region. In 25/26 he led teams to deliver 4 transactions that make up this year’s deal shortlist (Harper James LDC buy-out; sale of Frankham Consulting; investment in Montpellier Law and WHS Plastics).

Joe Dyke - Clearwater

As a Partner in Clearwater’s Birmingham office, Joe led four major transactions this year, advising Harper James on LDC’s investment, LDC on Eagle Eye Innovations, Frankham Group’s partnership with LDC and Abtec Group’s investment from Cow Corner, across professional services, technology and industrial services sectors.

Chris Handy - LDC

Chris led LDC’s investment into Birmingham-based law firm Harper James, backing Toby Harper and his team as well as securing one of the West Midlands’ standout deals of 2025 through fierce competition from both local and London-based private equity Firms. During the period, his team also backed five acquisitions for The Pace Group, building on LDC’s relationship and allowing the business to build on its impressive organic growth record with complementary acquisitions. Chris and his team continue to support ambitious management teams across the region with strategic growth, acquisitions and expansion plans despite challenging market conditions.

Clare Hanna - Browne Jacobson

Clare leads Browne Jacobson’s corporate M&A real estate offering and notable deals this year were Warren Equity Partner’s acquisition of Obsequio Group (simultaneously with two bolt-on acquisitions), Phenna Group’s acquisition of Calibre Environmental, Acre Platforms on sale of leading mortgage technology platform to ClearScore, Debrett’s PE acquisition of Meet Your Miracle, and Ortecha Group’s acquisition of Broadgate Consultants.

Andy Moody - Alvarez & Marsal

Andy runs the A&M Corporate Finance team across the Midlands, which he has established and grown to 11 people in the last two years. He led the cross-border sale of Litron Lasers to Nilario (a Systematic Growth platform) and advised Warren Equity Partners on their acquisition of Obsequio.

David Neate - Evolve Corporate Finance

With over 20 years of running a successful independent M&A boutique David launched Evolve in September 2022 with Justin Sparks. Evolve has already established itself as one of the leading boutiques in the West Midlands completing 10 transactions in the last 12 months and opening a second office in Nottingham.

Seb Saywood - BGF

Seb, Partner and Head of the Midlands, led the Deal Teams that completed new investments into Opus Safety and Utelize Communications, plus follow-on investments into several West Midlands based portfolio companies (including Ocee and Simworx). Successful exits with West Midlands advisers included Monodraught (10x money multiple) Wowstuff, Metric Search (138% IRR) plus others that cannot be disclosed. In aggregate, he delivered exits exceeding $1bn in enterprise value during the period.

Sarah Taylor, Clearwater
